A Wholistic Approach to Yoga
I take a trauma informed approach to yoga, this is a big motivator for me to create a feeling of safety for those that I serve. I think that yoga serves as a wouldnerful conduite for lessening the effect of trauma in our daily lives.
I take a gentle approach to Yoga, I want to offer people time and space to challenge their bodies and minds in a fully supportive environment. Yoga gives us the tools that we need to pursiver while learning to surrender. It is my opinion we live in a world that encourages us to stop listening to our body and mind's needs. I want to help people reconnect with themselves on a deep level while honoring their needs. When we live in a state of balance we prevent illness, burnout, and a life of unhappiness.
I am offering individual and personalized yoga sessions to those in my community. I can come to your house or facilitate a class online.
Yoga Styles
Yin
a slow paced gentle form of yoga, where ansana (poses) are held for 2-10 minutes. Yin offers an opportunity to connect with yourself while decreasing anxiety. Yin sets the mind up for deep meditation and surrender. This practice increases flexibility and targets the deep tissues such as the fascia, ligaments and bones. Yin has been found to be very beneficial for those who struggle with chronic body pain. Yin is a great option for all levels of skill and knowledge.
Yang/Yin
a balanced yoga practice. In this class you will start with active movement that energizes and strengthens the body. In the second half of this practice the movements slow down and the asanas (poses) are held longer with a deeper stretch. At the end of this practice you will feel energized and centered.
Hatha
a form of yoga that connects the mind, body, and breath. Poses in this practice are held for 5 to 10 breaths. Hatha is very beneficial for strengthening both the body and mind. Typically classes will have a grounding process, followed by asana, and finished with a time of medication and reflection.
Restorative
a very slow and meditative form of practice. This style of yoga offers asana (poses) that are completely passive, props such as bolsters, blocks, blankets and pillows are used to support the body. Asana are held for 5-10 minutes. Restorative is paired with meditation and silence. This is a style of yoga that calms both the body and mind.
